Head over Heels

When Vikki from Eden Cottage Yarn’s sent me a skein of Titus 4ply to try out I fell head over heels in love! I know you’ll understand being knitters, if I were to say that to a non-knitter they’d think me crazy!

Titus is without a doubt an exceptional yarn, spun from 75% merino wool and 25% silk it is a plied yarn with a high twist.  I knew instantly the right project to use my skein for and set about casting on Kate Davies latest hat pattern Catkin, mainly stocking stitch with some twisted ribbing and a cable detailing running up the front of the hat. It stood up to all three elements, my twisted rib really stands out and the cabling looks beautiful. The knitted fabric is so soft and due to the silk it has a slight shine to it. I have to say it’s been a real joy to knit with and I’m thrilled with my finished hat, seen here in the colour-way Misty Wood.

The yarn-base takes colour beautifully, giving you a semi-solid colour that looks gorgeous! I've ten colours to choose from including cool shades of Ice and Misty Wood, Sandy and Harvest Gold are warm yellows. Autumn, Driftwood and Stone offer gorgeous neutral shades. Or if you fancy something a little bright opt for Dog Wood, Periwinkle or Damselfly.

Why not knit yourself a cardigan for those cool summer evenings. Titus is ideal to use as a substitute for other 4ply knitting yarns, remember to check you gauge though and knit up a swatch first. Like all hand-dyed yarns, if you’re going to knit with more than one skein, alternative skeins every couple of rows.
