Joji Mystery Wrap | SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock

If you use Ravelry or Instagram, it might not have gone unnoticed that Joji Locatelli has just released a new pattern; Starting Point. It's to be a mystery knit-along which starts May 12th; already many knitters have signed up for the KAL which is not surprising as Joji has many wonderful patterns in her portfolio.

The Pattern

It's a rectangle shawl which incorporates lots of colour and texture. Joji describes it as graphic but classic, and it's suitable all knitters. There's no brioche or short rows but plenty of garter stitch and a little lace; with plenty of TV knitting as well as engaging knitting. This shawl makes the most of colour, five colours are used, and you'll need full skeins as it's going to be a big shawl!

The pattern is now available to purchase on Ravelry

The first clue will be released on May 12th followed by a further four clues over the following four weeks, one clue each week with the final clue being on June 9th.

There is a thread on Ravelry in Joji group for chatting. You can also use the hashtags #jojimysterywrap and #startingpointmkal on social media to share your progress.

Mystery knit alongs are not everyone's cup of tea so make sure you read all the details on the pattern beforehand.

The Yarn

You'll need five skeins of fingering weight yarn, in five different colours. The total yardage is 1700 yards / 1555 m. The approximate yardage for each colour is as follows:

  • Colour 1 - 356m / 390 yards - very, very light colour, almost white.
  • Colour 2 - 229m / 250 yards - an accent colour, not too light, not too dark.
  • Colour 3 - 385m / 420 yards - a speckled or variegated colourway.
  • Colour 4 - 356m / 390 yards - a very, very dark colour, almost black.
  • Colour 5 - 256m / 280 yards - second accent colour, medium value.

SweetGerogia Tough Love Sock (80% superwash merino wool, 20% nylon; 115g / 388m) is ideal for this project. Order Now

The yarn sets can be purchased directly from the blog, should you wish to purchase everything else at the same time you'll need to message me or email me rachel@tangled-yarn.co.uk and I will create a custom order for the additional items so you don't incur any additional shipping charges. The yarn sets are available only while stocks last.

If you'd rather choose your own colours of Tough Love Sock then use the discount code MYSTERY at the checkout for £15 off any five skeins. This offer ends May 19th.

While gauge isn't essential it will effect the final size of your shawl and how much yarn you use. This is especially important for the variegated colourway as you'll use almost all the skein if your gauge is a little off you may need a further skein so do bear this in mind.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone colour choices and will be watching eagerly to see the mystery wrap revealed!
