Do you fancy joining in with a knit along? Our pattern is Peace of Mind by Kristina Vilimaite.
Peace of Mind is the ideal knitting project to help you focus on your wellbeing and bring you inner peace. As you are knitting, remember moments when you have felt at peace, knit these memories and thoughts into the fabric. Then, when they wear the shawl, it will serve as a reminder to notice such moments in your life.
A crescent-shaped shawl Peace of Mind is worked top down using yarn in three colours. It features a squishy two-colour brioche body, and a fast to work diamond lace edging.
Like all our KALs anyone can join in as long as you have purchased your yarn from our store. I would recommend this pattern to an intermediate knitter looking to extend their knitting knowledge of brioche. If you've not tried brioche knitting before then, this project is suitable for brioche beginners. There are some great tutorials for mastering brioche, one which I would recommend is Brioche Knitting: Exploring Color & Texture with Nancy Marchant.
Designer Kristina used The Fibre Co. Canopy Fingering for Peace of Mind in Red Ginger, Laguna and Parakeet. She chose it because Canopy Fingering has perfect qualities for brioche stitch, it's neither slippery or sticky and it doesn't split. It blocks beautifully and so the shawl will drape wonderfully.
Here are just a few more ideas for alternative colours you might like to put together in Canopy Fingering for your shawl.
You'll need two skeins of each of the three colours in Canopy Fingering, you'll also need two circular knitting needles in 4mm (US6) and 5.5mm (US9) although you may need to change your needle size to achieve the gauge of 21 stitches and 17 rows.
Save 10% when you purchase Canopy Fingering with the discount code CANOPY,offer end Wednesday 2nd May.
You can purchase a printed version of the knitting pattern from our store, it will also include a download code so you can add the pattern to your Ravelry library. The pattern includes charts and line-by-line written instructions.
The KAL will be hosted in our Ravelry group and in our Facebook group. You can chat and share as much or as little as you want. From time to time Kristina will stop by in our Ravelry thread to see how everyone is getting along.
