I first discovered Pigment & Ply in the summer of 2020 on a visit to Ingleton, Yorkshire. I spied the most beautifully hand-dyed skein of yarn in Craftopia, which took me on a journey of discovery. Jess is the artisan dyer behind this relatively new yarn brand. After graduating from university, where she studied knitwear Jess began working as a knitwear technician. In her spare time, she continued to design knitwear accessories, and it was this that lead to her dyeing her own yarn for her designs.
Pigment & Ply's colours are inspired by artwork, whether that's a painting or album cover. Jess then begins interpreting what she sees into her notebook using watercolours and creates a mood board that she then transfers to yarn. Each skein is a true masterpiece that you can then knit with and create something beautiful.
