BMC (Betty Mouat Cowl) by Kate Davies
A pretty and versatile lightweight cowl or wrap in vintage Shetland lace from Kate Davies.
The pattern includes two sizes for knitting a small collar size cowl or the larger wrap-size cowl that is picture here. Knit completely in the round using no-purl garter stitch method, this is an interesting knit that involves a few techniques you may not be familiar with but there is great tutorial support through Kate's website, details are included in the pattern.
Size: small (62cm); large (231cm); both cowls are 23cm wide
Yarn: 4 ply yarn, Jamieson & Smith 2ply Jumper Weight (25g/115m)
Yardage: small requires 9 colours, 32m of each; large requires 9 colours, 87m each
Knitting Needles: small requires two 3mm circular needles (40cm); large requires two 3mm circular needles (100-150cm)
The sample shown was knit in Jamieson & Smith 2ply Jumper Weight using the following shades:
MC - 366; CC1 - FC9; CC2 - FC51; CC3 - 29; CC4 - 141; CC5 - FC24; CC6 - 72; CC7 - FC50; CC8 - 203.
