It's good to put a face to the name. I'm Rachel, and I set up Tangled Yarn in 2011. I was taught to knit when I was eight by my Nana who had an infinite amount of patience and was, without a doubt, a dab hand with a pair of knitting needles. She was also fantastic at darning socks, something I've never been able to get to grips with!
Knitting to me is about more than just producing a beautiful knitted garment; it's about every stitch that goes into making the finished garment; it's about the joy and pleasure it brings to me every day! I've found great comfort from my yarn and knitting needles over the years.
Niamh joined Tangled Yarn in 2023 after completing her Master's Degree in Organic Chemistry. Her journey with Tangled Yarn began in 2017 when she managed the shop on her own while Rachel was undergoing treatment for breast cancer. It was during this challenging time that Niamh discovered her passion for all things yarn and knitting.
Her scientific background and love for sustainability perfectly complement the shop’s mission. Now, Niamh combines her expertise in organic chemistry with her dedication to sustainable crafting, bringing fresh insights and energy to Tangled Yarn.
