Burrafirth by Gudrun Johnston - Knitting Pattern - The Shetland Trader - 1

Now available as a single printed pattern, Burrafirth was included in Gudrun Johnston's book The Shetland Trader Book Two.

Burrafirth is worked in one piece from the top down with a circular yoke. Knit in stocking stitch with multiple coloured stripes on the yoke, body and sleeves; interspersed with eyelets. The sleeves and body are separated at the underarm. Short rows are used to shape the lower body. An all round interesting knit!

Gudrun recommends using Jamieson & Smith 2ply Jumper Weight, alternatively you could knit in any fingering weight (4ply) yarn that will achieve the same tension. the main colour used is shade 202, contrast colours shade 1284, 78 and 27.

Burrafirth is intended to be worn with 1 - 2 inches of positive ease. The sample is shown knitted in size 36.5" with 2.5" of positive ease
