Matiz is an aran weight, 100% wool yarn from Portuguese company Retrosaria, spun from two native sheep breeds – Campaniça and Merino Preto. The natural character of these wools gives Matiz its depth of colour and rustic charm while still being soft enough for everyday wear.
The palette is built on the natural fleece shades:
- A – an undyed white from Campaniça wool
- D – an undyed deep brown from Merino Preto
- C – a natural marl, blending both breeds
From there, additional shades are created by dyeing the wool itself, giving the colours a heathered richness and subtle variations that knit up beautifully.
Perfect for warm, hardwearing garments and accessories, Matiz celebrates Portuguese wool traditions in every stitch. It’s a yarn with real story and soul, ideal for cosy sweaters, textured knits, and colourwork projects.

We offer a 30-day return window from the date of purchase. If you want to return or exchange an item, please ensure it is in its original condition and packaging. To request a returns label, please email us at enquiries@tangled-yarn.co.uk and include the reason for your return or exchange.
All return and exchange requests will be reviewed before approval. A £3.95 charge applies to the returns label, which will be deducted from your final refund. For exchanges, this charge also covers the postage for your exchanged items.
