Base Doodle Mittens by Pacific Knit Co. are a wonderfully flexible pattern for creating completely personalised mittens using your favourite Doodle charts.

This is a printed brochure of the Base Doodle Mittens pattern only. Colourwork charts are not included and can be added separately using any compatible Pacific Knit Co. Doodle Deck.

Part of the Pacific Knit Co. Doodle system, this simple mitten shape makes a brilliant canvas for colourwork. Stack several motifs together, feature one favourite chart, experiment with texture, change the cuff length or simply let a beautiful yarn take centre stage.

The mittens are worked in the round from the bottom up, beginning with the cuff. Optional stranded colourwork is worked to the base of the thumb, where waste yarn is added for an afterthought thumb. The mitten is then completed before the thumb stitches are picked up and worked to the desired length.

Because Pacific Knit Co. Doodle motifs are designed to work across the wider Doodle range, you can mix and match charts from any compatible Doodle Deck and create a different pair every time.

Sizes

Approximate finished circumference:

• 10, 15 (20, 25) cm
• 4, 6 (8, 10) in

Approximate finished height:

• 7.5–10, 15–18 (20–23, 23–25) cm
• 3–4, 6–7 (8–9, 9–10) in

Yarn

Use any DK, light worsted or sport weight yarn that gives the correct gauge. Doodle patterns are ideal for using leftover yarn, advent minis and smaller quantities from your stash.

• 60, 105 (170, 230) yds

• 55, 96 (155, 210) m

Needles

• 3.75mm / US 5, or size needed to achieve gauge
• One size smaller for ribbing, if preferred
• 40cm / 16in circular needle
• DPNs or magic loop for small circumferences and shaping

Gauge

• 24 sts and 24 rnds = 10 cm / 4 in

You will also need

• Stitch markers, waste yarn, scissors and a tapestry needle.
