Base Doodle Beanie 1 by Pacific Knit Co. is an easy, versatile hat pattern designed to become the starting point for all sorts of colourwork combinations.
This is a printed brochure of the Base Doodle Beanie 1 pattern only. Colourwork charts are not included and can be added separately using any compatible Pacific Knit Co. Doodle Deck.
Part of the Pacific Knit Co. Doodle system, this simple base pattern gives you plenty of freedom to make the hat your own. Add a small section of colourwork around the brim, cover the whole hat in your favourite motifs, experiment with different textures or keep it completely plain.
The beanie is worked in the round from the bottom up, beginning with a simple ribbed brim. An optional colourwork section follows before the hat is finished with spiral crown decreases.
Because Pacific Knit Co. Doodle motifs are designed to work across the Doodle pattern range, you can mix and match charts from any compatible Doodle Deck and create a different version each time.

Yarn
Use any DK, light worsted or sport weight yarn that gives the correct gauge. Doodle patterns are particularly good for using leftover yarn, advent minis and smaller quantities from your stash.

- 160, 182, 206 (227, 251, 274) m
Needles
- 3.75mm / US 5, or size needed to achieve gauge
- One size smaller for ribbing, if preferred
- 40cm / 16in circular needle
- DPNs or magic loop for the crown
Gauge
- 24 sts and 24 rnds = 10 cm / 4 in

- Stitch markers, scissors, a tapestry needle and an optional pom pom.
