Base Doodle Sock by Pacific Knit Co. is a versatile top-down sock pattern designed to be customised with your favourite Doodle colourwork charts.

This is a printed brochure of the Base Doodle Sock pattern only. Colourwork charts are not included and can be added separately using any compatible Pacific Knit Co. Doodle Deck.

Part of the Pacific Knit Co. Doodle system, this flexible sock recipe gives you plenty of ways to create your own design. Cover the socks in colourwork, add motifs just to the leg, work a small section around the cuff, or play with different ribbing, heel and toe combinations.

The socks are worked in the round from the top down. After the cuff, optional stranded colourwork is worked along the leg. Waste yarn is added for an afterthought heel before continuing along the foot. The toe is shaped and grafted, with the heel stitches picked up and completed at the end.

Because Pacific Knit Co. Doodle motifs are designed to work across the wider Doodle range, you can mix and match charts from compatible Doodle Decks to create a completely different pair each time.

Approximate foot circumference:

• 10, 14, 17 (20, 23, 27) cm
• 4, 5.5, 6.5 (8, 9.25, 10.5) in

Approximate sock height:

• 9, 14, 17.5 (20, 22.5, 25) cm
• 3.5, 5.5, 7 (8, 9, 10) in

Approximate foot length:

• 11, 15, 17.5 (22.5, 27.5, 30) cm
• 4.5, 6, 8.5 (10, 11, 12) in

Yarn

Use a 4-ply/fingering-weight yarn that gives the correct gauge. Doodle patterns are ideal for using leftover yarn, advent minis and smaller quantities from your stash.

Approximate total yardage:

• 150, 300, 350 (400, 450, 550) yds
• 137, 274, 320 (365, 411, 502) m

Needles

• 2.75mm / US 2, or size needed to achieve gauge
• One size smaller for ribbing, if preferred
• 20cm / 8in circular needles, magic loop or DPNs

Gauge

• 36 sts and 36 rnds = 10 cm / 4 in

• Stitch markers, waste yarn and a tapestry needle.
