Andrea Mowry's shawl pattern Find Your Fade is causing a real stir among knitters; social media is hot right now with everyone's shawls you only have to search #findyourfadeshawl on Instagram, and you'll see over 8,000 projects, now that's not too shabby for a pattern that was only released in December 2016.
So why have knitters taken Find You Fade to their hearts? Well, I can only speak for myself, but for me, it plays on my love for colour pure and simple, I'm a colour magpie! This garter stitch and simple lace shawl is a blank canvas to express yourself; it's the ideal project for diving deep into your stash and pulling out those skeins of sock yarn that tempted you to take them home but have been waiting patiently to be used in the perfect project.
Seven colours were used in the original sample, from speckles to semi-solids to variegated colourways. You can use however many you like though as this is your shawl to play with colour and put your stamp on it!
Andrea describes the colour change as "colour melting". Start with one colour and chose your second, pick out a colour from the first skein in your second and so on. Open up your skeins and lay them out next to one another until you're happy with your combination.

With the arrival of Cozy Merino this week from the WalkCollection I've been playing with colour combinations and so have a few suggestions for you:
Mix it up! Here I've played around with SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock, Manos Del Uruguay Alegria and Malabrigo Mechita. I started with Alegria in Glicinas; I then worked outwards picking out the colours in the skein I liked. Give it a go it's real fun!
Top Tip - use the Tangled Yarn wishlist to play with colour combinations. Simply add the yarns/colours you like to your wishlist to see how they look together.
Finding Your Fade will lead you on the road to discovery, this is your chance to play with colour like you've never done before.
