FOMO!!!

I'm heading north today, to the Edinburgh Yarn Festival. I'm very excited as it will be my first time visiting this prestigious yarn filled event! I'll be totally honest with you I hadn't planned to go, but I was listening to all the chatter on Twitter and Instagram, and the fear of missing out (FOMO) came upon me.

I'm looking forward to catching up with some of Tangled Yarn's wonderful suppliers including WalkCollection, Blacker Yarns, The Fibre Co and Martin's Lab, as well as taking the opportunity to seek out some possible new yarns to add later in the year. There'll be lots of designers there too, so I'm excited to seeing what's going to be that must knit project for the coming year!

If like me you have been experiencing FOMO but haven't been lucky enough to make this trip this year let me share some yarn candy from our newest supplier Martin's Lab.

Martin's Lab Mini Bundles contain six mini skeins of single-ply superwash merino which has been beautifully hand dyed by Marcin Lorkowska the mastermind behind the dye pots at Martin's Lab, to give you vivid and gorgeous colours that coordinate perfectly with each other. Another arrival this week from Martin's Lab is Bouncy Merino. This yarn is their 100% superwash high twist Merino base; it's a fingering weight which is very bouncy and has plenty of loft to the fibres, making it ideal for making lightweight sweaters, shawls and accessories.

One skein of Bouncy Merino is enough to knit Close to You, a simple and stylish shawl that is knitted from one end with gradual increases to form a triangular shawl. This stunning shawl pattern is free to download on Ravelry and really showcases the beauty of hand-painted yarns.  

You may have spotted that all the designs in today's post are by Marcin's wife, Justyna. Marcin started dyeing yarns as a result of asking Justyna to bring him home some undyed yarn from a yarn festival. He then studied up on acid dyes, temperature and ph levels before creating the most stunning skein of hand-dyed yarn and so Martin's Lab came to be.
